Pattern: Pull #460-T6-275 (who comes up with those names?!) from Phildar Tendances 460
Size: Small (34/36)
Yarn: Jo Sharp Alpaca Kid Lustre in Brew
Notes:

My gauge turned out to be slightly smaller than the pattern's, so my sweater's a bit more snug than intended, I think. I did add a few extra cm of ribbing at the bottom, and changed the neckline per Ravelry user klement's notes. I knit the body in the round--after reading everyone else's notes on Ravelry, I was terrified of seaming reverse stockinette, so my original intention was to knit *everything* in the round, including top-down short row sleeves, to eliminate all seams. But the top-down sleeve caps just looked too sloppy to me, so I went with flat sleeves and discovered that reverse stockinette seaming is not impossible after all, especially when you have a good visual guide.

I breathed a big sigh of relief when the last end was woven in late last night (very late, as evidenced by the circles under my eyes)--I feel like I worked on this forever, and I'm really ready to start working with a new yarn!

You knit so beautifully and the pullover suits you so well - unlike those of us who always look just a little too much like Winnie the Pooh!

It is gorgeous and it fits you to a T!

Are the vines on both sides or just one?

It looks so beautiful. I love it. Do you prefer knitting in the round or flat? Something tells me that the fit is better when the sweater is knit back and forth and seamed. I might by wrong, though, and your sweater seems to be fitting perfectly. Did you block it afterwards? I guess that's a bit more difficult when it's worked in the round

Thanks everyone!

Eliza - the vines are just one the one side.

Pindsvinet - I'd recommend working this sweater flat if you, like me, are slower at purling than knitting. I also suspect that my all-purling produced more uneven stitches than if I had done flat stockinette, but maybe that's just me.

You always get the most beautiful, tailored fit! It's a beauty, and your reverse stockinet even looks good at the seam edges. I'm wild with envy.

it's lovely! i'm dying to make it, though i'm sure the shoulder seams won't come out nearly as nice as yours! *jealousy!* anyway, i can't seem to find the pattern on phildar. they don't seem to offer catalogue 460 online. where, may i ask, did you get your pattern?

Marlena said...

Am I on glue, or are you an Interweave model?! I saw the preview just now for the summer issue.

It's beautiful. I just discovered your blog. It's always nice to see other crafty people in DC.

I bet it relaxes just a tad with the blocking and becomes exactly the size you want....b/c actually you don't 'need' it since it looks superfab on you right now :)

I was sifting through your archives because I remembered you had linked to a guide for seaming reverse stockinette, and I was reminded of the overall beauty and inspiration that are contained in your blog. I don't comment nearly enough; your knits are gorgeous and your entries are poetry! Thank you for sharing.
