from "blog friends" to "real-life friends"

Last week I was lucky enough to finally meet up with not one, but two lovely bloggers whom I've been corresponding with for ages: Lolly and Rangsiwan. Lolly beat me to the punch in posting about our meet-up, but I had such a great time, I couldn't help but throw in my two cents, too...

Earlier in the week, I caught up with Rangsiwan for breakfast at Open City*, and then on Saturday we had lunch with Lolly and Rangsiwan's friend Marisa at Teaism**. After lunch, we headed over to the Crafty Bastards fair in Silver Spring, and then H & I split from the group (
I normally try to be a good wife, but sometimes I slip up & drag my husband out of the shower to pick me up from a girls' lunch so he can drive me to a craft fair and suffer silently outside in the blazing afternoon heat, and before I know it, the clock hits 4 p.m. and the poor fellow still hasn't had a bite to eat all day--we desperately needed to find him a sandwich, stat.). Anyway, Rangsiwan & Lolly were both just as sweet and witty as you'd expect from their blogs, and even though it was our first meetup, somehow it felt more like a reunion and less like a blind "friend date". We had so much to chat about, we barely got around to talking knits! All in all, it was quite a treat to spend face-to-face time with them, and hopefully we'll be able to see each other again before too long.

Oh! And check out what we spotted driving in front of us on the way home:

... as if it had been planted there by Serendipity herself.

*If you live in DC and are wondering whether anybody in this town knows how to serve up a decent tofu scramble and some respectable pancakes, go here. It's no Toast, but it holds its own. And don't miss the vodka-spiked limeade!

**Another great veg-friendly spot; it also gets the thumbs-up from the non-veg crowd.
